Microsoft Cuts Prices for Its Surface RT Tablets

Surface RT tabletMicrosoft announced a price reduction of $150 for all the Surface tablets. The price cut will come into effect  Sunday, July 14th.

Microsoft will reduce prices by $150 to boost sales of the Surface RT tablet, whose results are disappointing. The software maker sold by the end of March only 1.5 million tablets Surface and Surface Pro RT since the launch on the market. The Surface RT tablet will be sold to schools at $199.

The Surface Pro tablet is expected to be upgraded with a Haswell processor while Microsoft tested its tablets with the Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU. New tablet accessories such as a battery-equipped keyboard cover will be revealed in the near future.

News about discounts on Microsoft tablets appeared in the media immediately after the announcement on the Restructuring of the U.S. company at the Worldwide Partner Conference on Wednesday.

Here are the new prices of the Microsoft Surface RT tablets:

• Surface RT 32GB: $349.99

• Surface RT 64GB: $449.99

• Surface RT 32GB with Touch Cover: $449.99

• Surface RT 64GB with Touch Cover: $549.99.
